Barbara Jean (Duhon) Hughes

Barbara Jean Hughes, age 77, of Mauriceville, Texas, passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, from 4:30 until 6:30 PM at Dorman Funeral Home in Orange, Texas. Arrangements were made under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home.

Barbara was born on Tuesday, July 9, 1940, in Jennings, Louisiana to parents, Edna (Bourque) and Avillion Duhon. She had been a lifelong resident of Mauriceville, Texas before moving from Oviedo, Florida with her husband over 20 years ago and then later moved back to Texas. She was a Christian and a true believer in the Lord. Barbara found the love of her life when she met Doyle Hughes. They were married for 60 blissful years. She was a very caring, loving, understanding woman who loved her family and friends without question. Family was everything to Barbara. Holidays were always such a treat when she got to reminisce and share memories with family she didn't always get to see. Sunday lunches were a regular thing with the family, as everyone loved to visit with her. She was a very loving, selfless person with the biggest heart. If you were her friend, then you were going to be her friend for life.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Avillion and Edna Duhon; Son, Rory Hughes and Brother, John Duhon.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Doyle Hughes; Children; Cindy Duhon of Beaumont, Texas and Doyle Hughes and Crystal of Florida; Sister, Mary McLaughlin of Lumberton, Texas; Brother, Wayne Duhon of Port Arthur, Texas; Grandchildren, Mandy Jay, Brian Duhon and Doyle Hughes, JR. and 4 Great-Grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
