James Fletcher Plant, Jr., age 86 of Orange, Texas passed away at his home in Orange, Texas on Monday, May 2, 2016.
James was born in Bon Wier, Texas on Thursday, July 25, 1929 to the late Lillie Mae and James Fletcher Plant, Sr. He was a resident of Orange, Texas where he lived for the majority of his life. James served valiantly in the United States Navy from 1949-1951 as an Aviation Boatswain’s Mate Airman. After James stepped down from active duty service, he began working as a Process Operator for A. Schulmann. He is described by his family as an incredibly hard working and giving man. James worked hard to maintain his vegetable garden, which he filled with his favorites; Okra and Tomatoes. He enjoyed fishing, squirrel hunting, and camping with his family. He also greatly enjoyed going to singings at his local church.
Preceding James in death are his parents and his loving wife, Thelma Plant.
Those left to cherish the memory of James are his son, Tony James Plant; His step-son, Frank Basar and his wife, Sandy; His step-daughters, Judy Storms and Cookie Yeates; His grandchildren, Michelle LeBlanc and her husband, Trey and Shane Coleman and his wife, Karen; and his great grandchildren, Cristian Coleman, Sophia Grace Coleman, and Greyson Coleman.
James will receive Military honors at Dorman Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 12:00 PM with a graveside service to follow at Ford Cemetery at 2:00 PM. A visitation will be held on Monday, May 9, 2016 in the chapel at Dorman Funeral Home from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM.
