Joseph Allen Jernigan, age 68 of Orange, Texas, passed away suddenly at Christus St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Beaumont, Texas on Saturday, October 21, 2017. Services to remember Joseph's life will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Dorman Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lee Everhart officiating. Interment will follow at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park. Family and friends will gather for a visitation from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Dorman Funeral Home.

Joseph was born in Milton, Florida on July 20, 1949 to Linda Aileen Black Jernigan and Clarence Jernigan. He loved attending  Old Laurel Baptist Church in Devil's Pockett. Joseph was a retired Certified Welding Inspector for numerous construction companies.  Joseph traveled with his job and was able to take his wife, Panet; and the two visited so many wonderful places.  Joseph loved to go fishing with his family and friends and watching old John Wayne movies.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Panet Jernigan of Orange, TX, two sons, Jeffery Jernigan and his wife Jessica of Montgomery, AL and James Jernigan and his wife Dennisha of Pace, FL, one step-son John Stewart III and his wife Tracy of West Orange, TX and step-daughter Tara Greenwood and her husband John of Orange, TX. Three brothers; Mike Jernigan of Pensacola, FL, Johnny Jernigan of Brewton, AL and Jack Jernigan of Milton, FL, and one sister Sue Jernigan of FL. Grandchildren; Alexis Evans and her husband Dalton, Tyler Greenwood, Ashleigh Greenwood and a future grandson to arrive soon.

Pallbearers will be John Greenwood, John Stewart III, Tyler Greenwood, Shelby Cloud, Wesley "Butch" Arabie and Charles Byrd.
