Joyce Ann Kachtik

Joyce Ann Kachtik, age 82, of Orange, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Services, under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home, will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 31, 2017, at the Calvary Baptist Church, in Deweyville, Texas with Pastor John Fortenberry officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Kachtik Family Cemetery, in Orange, Texas. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2017, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Calvary Baptist Church, in Deweyville, Texas.

Joyce was born on Sunday, August 11, 1935, in Rio Hondo, Texas to Grace (Hull) and Clarence Taubert. Joyce found the love of her life when she met Don Kachtik while he was playing football for Texas aTm. They were married on August 7, 1954 and spent 66 blissful years together. Within those 66 years, Joyce and Don had a son, Wade Kachtik and a daughter, Karen Kachtik. The Kachtik family had been a long time residents of Orange, Texas having moved from Edenburg, Texas in 1965. Joyce made a living for many years working as a secretary for the LCM ISD School System in Orange, Texas. Joyce was a long time 4-H Club Leader that was looked up to by many people. She loved to go fishing, spending time in her garden and playing tournament tennis. One year, Joyce was awarded the, East Texas Homemaker of the year, award and was very proud to receive such an honor. She was also a proud member of the Rose Society. Joyce and her husband Don were known all around the Golden Triangle and surrounding areas for the outstanding Christmas Tree Farm that they owned and operated along with their children and grandchildren for a wonderful and unforgettable 40 years. "K & K Tree Farm" located off of Highway 87 in Orange, Texas was said to be one of the very best tree farms in the Southeast Texas region that also served the most delicious Hot Apple Cider people have ever drank. The cider was Joyce's top secret recipe that she refused to share with even her own family. Joyce was of the Baptist Religion and was a proud, long time member of Calvary Baptist Church in Deweyville, Texas.

Joyce is preceded in death by her Parents, Grace (Hull) and Clarence Taubert and brother, Holland Taubert.

Joyce is survived by her Husband of 66 years, Don Kachtik; Children, Karen Kachtik and husband Richard Gahner of Orange, Texas and Wade Kachtik and wife Stefanie or Orange, Texas; Sister, Laverne Coon and husband Tom Howerth of Live Oak, Floria; Grandchildren, Alex Newton and husband Nick, Kane Kachtik and wife Krista; Great-Grandchildren, Grace Newton, Jett Newton, Kash Newton, Ryder Strickland, Colt Kachtik and Saylor Kachtik.
