Lamar “Coco” Hardin of Orange, TX, passed away at the age of 92 on June 6, 2016 at his residence.

Born in Abbeville, LA, on July 16, 1923, to Frank and Rosa Hardin.  Coco was the only one of 12 siblings to be born in a hospital.

Coco served in the United States Army during World War II.  After serving in the Army, Coco went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company where he later retired after 38 years of service.

Coco enjoyed boating, traveling and telling stories about ALL his life adventures.  He was a lifetime member of the Orange Boating Club, a member of the Ding-A-Lings travel club and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Orange.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 60 years Betty Joe Hardin; sons Bill Hardin and Lamar Hardin Jr.; brother Whitty Hardin, Milford Hardin, Quincy Hardin and Marshall Hardin; sisters Sis McGuire, Peggy Love, and Ruby Hardin.

He is survived by his son Tom Hardin and wife Margie of Tennessee; daughters Willoughby Hardin and husband Bradley Crochet and Nancy Lou Working all of Orange; grandchildren Lamar Belcher and wife Lenzi of Bridge City, Lillie Joe Belcher and fiancé Dustin Morgan of Orange, Kimmie Abaza of Canada, Misty Bonin and Dale Bonin of Orange; great-grandchildren Wyatt Lamar Belcher and Rocky Calvin Morgan; brothers Harold Hardin and wife Emily of Orange and Bobby Hardin of Hackberry, LA; sisters Jesse Sonnier of Mauriceville and Delores Stephens of Orange; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express their thanks to his caregiver Nicole for her kind and loving care of Coco and the staff of Gentiva Hospice  Special thanks to Lil Betty and Monique for their loving care and support.

Cremation will be handled under the direction of the Dorman Funeral home

A memorial service for family and friends to celebrate Coco's life will be held at the Orange Boating Club on Sunday June 12, 2016, from 1pm-until.
