Mary Idella Linscomb

March 13, 1923 ~ August 9, 2017 (age 94) 94 Years Old

Mary Idella Linscomb, age 94 of Dayton, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Mary was born on March 13, 1923 in Deweyville, Texas, to Minnietta and John Chapman. She was a sweet, loving, God fearing woman, who loved life and loved her family. Mary loved to listen to gospel music and at any given time of the day, she could be found playing in her room. In her younger years, she loved to river fish and spent a lot of time doing so, while making many great memories with her dad. For ten years, Mary and her husband, Floyd Linscomb, hand dug graves together in King Cemetery while he also crafted the headstones. Mary and Floyd loved one another unconditionally and were married for fifty wonderful years. She loved spending time with her family and friends and did so every chance she got. In her spare time, she thoroughly enjoyed making handmade quilts and giving them to all her loved ones. Mary lived a long, full, happy life and made countless memoires with the ones she loved that will be forever cherished.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd; sons, Gilbert Linscomb, Daniel Linscomb and Fred Linscomb; daughter, Sarah Donahoe, as well as six brothers and two sisters.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Floyd Linscomb and wife Jan of Houston, Texas; daughters, Kitty Blackwell of Anacoco, Louisiana, Mary Brown of Dayton, Texas, Lois Schneider and husband Robert of Starks, Louisiana and Rose Elliot of Houston, Texas as well as 19 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren and many members of extended family and friends.
