Sadie (Smith) Welch, 80, of Beaumont, Texas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 2, 2017.  Funeral services will be held at Dorman Funeral Home on Sunday, November 5, 2017, at 12:00 PM; PJ Dial of Houston, Texas, officiating.  Rite of Committal and Interment will immediately follow at Wilkinson Cemetery.  Visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the funeral service on Sunday, November 5, 2017, from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM, at Dorman Funeral Home.

On Wednesday, September 1, 1937, Sadie was born in Kirbyville, Texas, to Martin and Katie Smith.  She was of the Pentecostal faith and attended First United Pentecostal Church, in Orange, Texas.  In 1955, Sadie married Loyd Alvin Welch, and together they raised a beautiful family, in Orange, Texas.  Sadie dedicated her time to her family, working as a homemaker, wife, and mother.  It was well known by all who had the opportunity to eat in Sadie’s kitchen, that she was an outstanding cook; famous for her cornbread fritters and veal cutlets.  In her spare time, Sadie spent every minute that she could with her family and her fishing pole.  It did not matter if it was fresh water or salt water, if Sadie would drop her fishing hook in the water she was bound to catch something.  Sadie was a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who will be missed by all who knew her.

Preceding Sadie in death is her husband, Loyd Welch; parents, Martin and Katie Smith; and 12 of her siblings.

Sadie is survived by her daughters, Debra Dial and her husband, Paul, of Beaumont, Texas, and Ronda Welch of Orange, Texas; sons, Douglas Welch and his wife, Sue, of Orange, Texas, Lloyd Welch and his wife, Brandy, of Vidor, Texas, and Terry Welch and his wife, Leslie, of Beaumont, Texas; brother, Frank E. Smith; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and numerous members of extended family and friends.
