Shirley (Holland) Lewis, 83, of Orange, Texas, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2017, at Baptist Hospital of Southeast Texas, in Beaumont, Texas.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, on Sunday, October 29, 2017, at Dorman Funeral Home with Rev. John Bickham officiating.  Rite of Committal and Interment will be at 4:00 PM following funeral services at Jasper City Cemetery.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Saturday, October28, 2017, at Dorman Funeral Home.

On Saturday, April 21, 1934, Shirley was born in Autryville, North Carolina to Mamie Blanchard and Lattie R. Holland.  Shirley remained in North Carolina through high school.  On January 29, 1955, Shirley married her husband, Dale Eldridge Lewis, in Bennetsville, North Carolina, and together they moved to Orange, Texas, where they remained to raise their two sons.  Shirley worked for many years as a clerk for Mize Plumbing in Orange, Texas, and later retired. Shirley loved the outdoors and could be found on the water every summer enjoying water skiing with her husband, and children.  She was also an avid bowler and was a member of the Women’s League, in Orange, Texas; known for her ability to bowl a 300!  Shirley, better known as "Nanny", was a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who will be missed by all who knew her.

Preceding Shirley in death is her husband, Dale Lewis; parents, Lattie and Mamie Holland; grandson, Clayton Lewis; sisters, Thelma Autry, Ulaine Smith, and Nell Hollingsworth; and brothers, Thurman Holland and Donnie Holland.

Those left to cherish Shirley’s memory are her sons, Kyle Lewis and his wife, Floy, of Mauriceville, Texas, and Jeff Lewis, of Orange, Texas; grandchildren, Lorrie Rodriguez, Lindsey Manley, Layne Lewis, Julie Lewis, and Courteney Lewis.
