Bennie Joe Grimes 76 of Deweyville, Passed from this life on Sunday March 3, 2024, at his residence surrounded by family. Bennie was Born on May 15, 1947 in Leesville, La.  Services to Honor Bennie's Life will Be Monday March 11, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Dorman Funeral Home, Brother John Fortenberry officiating. Visitation will be prior to service from 10-11:00 AM.

Bennie was Born on May 15, 1947, to parents Alvin Louis and Audrey Sue “Hext” Bourque in Leesville, Louisiana.  Bennie was a long haul truck driver for over 40 years. He married the love of his life Mae Lajean “Jean” Murphy on June 5, 1969. Bennie loved his Harley, going on rides feeling the wind in his face and most of all taking his grandkids for motorcycle rides. His Family was the light of his life, especially his grandkids. He loved to joke and kid around; he would always help anyone who needed it.  To know him was to love him and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Louis, & Audrey Sue “Hext” Bourque; Mother-in-law & Father-in-law Emmette Doyle & Lora Mae Murphy; Sister-in-laws, Peggy Statum, Raomi Yaw, & Jackie Ashworth.

Those left to cherish his memory is his wife of 54 years Mae “Jean” Grimes; two Daughters, Audrey Says, & Husband Chris of Starks, Kayla Brown & Husband Chris of Deweyville; four Grandchildren, Ashton Says, & Wife Hannah, Mackenzie Says, Caleb Brown, & Logan Brown; one sister, Phelonise Tynes & Husband Bobby of Buna; one sister-in-law Martha Stanley & Husband Edgar of Starks; one brother-in-law David Murphy & Wife Ramona of Bridge City; along with numerous Nieces, Nephews, Great-Nieces and Great-Nephews. 

Honorary Pallbearers are Ashton Says, Caleb Brown, Logan Brown, Kevin Murphy, Lonnie Murphy, Conner Buxton, Clyde Bennett, Late, Larry Fowler, and Late B.J. Miller

The Family Would like to deeply thank the Staff of Compassion Hospice, especially Nurses Elaine, Amanda, & CNA Sherry for their compassion, care, and love you showed our dad and our family during this time.
