Evelyn Kirby

Born March 21, 1933

Died March 21, 2024

She was born in New Iberia Louisiana to Raoul and Annie Louvier Romero. She was the last remaining sibling of twelve children. She met our dad, Harold W. Kirby on March 28, 1950,who she later married when she was only 16 years of age.  They was married for 54 years when our dad passed away. Our dad had a favorite word of endearment for our mom, she was called "Bird."They immediately began their family of five children. Susan Kay Kirby Tomlin (Larry Tomlin), Peggy Jean Kirby Smith (Gary Smith), David Wayne Kirby (Winkie Kirby), Mark Weldon Kirby (Sylvia Kirby), Joel Wendell Kirby (Sue Kirby).

As we say our farewell, for now, we can hear our dad using his favorite word of endearment "Bird" what took you so long? Then one day Lord willing we will hear then both say "What took ya'll so long?" We love you mom!!!

She had ten grandchildren, Jayson Tomlin, Tiffany Gordon, Corey Smith, Kimberly Green, Kevin Kirby, Darin Kirby, Maegan Kirby, Mandi Kelly, Josh Kirby, Jessica Vines, step-grandchildren Erin Smith, Ashley Griner, Hunter Fuller, and many great-grandchildren. Two special nieces whom she loved dearly, Tana Howard and Dana Simoneaux. 

Pallbearers are Jayson Tomlin, Jayce Tomlin, Corey Smith, Kyler Green, Darin Kirby, and Kevin Kirby.

We want to extend a special thanks to Brittany Ocasio and Erin Smith for their loving care of our mom. Also, to the Hospice nurses Stacy, Sharon, and Kathy. 

Services are as follows:

Family viewing 9:30 -10:00 am Tuesday 3/26/2024.

Public viewing 10:00 am -11:00 am

Funeral begins at 11:00 am

Graveside services to follow funeral.
