Shelley Plunkett Obituary

The world has lost a bright light in Shelley Ruth O’Hara Plunkett, age 67, a woman whose many talents, passions, and virtues brought joy and inspiration to all who knew her.

Born in Sacramento, California, on August 18th, 1956. She was the beloved daughter of Maxine Laverne and John Lawrence O’Hara. Shelley’s life was marked by a deep devotion to her faith, family, and boundless pursuits.

As a Deacon and active member of the Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church in Beaumont, TX, Shelley’s faith was a guiding force in her life. She shared her love for God and the world around her through her gift for public speaking, where she captivated audiences with her wisdom and wit both on stage and off.

Shelley’s love of learning knew no bounds, and she imparted this passion to her children and grandchildren, inspiring them to seek knowledge and understanding in all they do. To Ian, Euan, and Arwen Koushan, she was “Dimmy,” a beloved grandmother who brought them unbridled joy and love.

Shelley’s artistic talents were a testament to her ability to visualize, interpret and communicate the beauty of life around her. She was a gifted and passionate artist with a profound appreciation for the fine arts and theatre, and her work echoed her distinctive ability to capture the essence of the world she saw.

In her professional life, Shelley achieved great success and made a lasting impact on those around her. Shelley served in the United States Marine Corps from 1977 to 1979. As co-owner of Plunkett Roofing and Cake Trick International and a professional cake decorator for Frosted Love, Shelley brought her passion and dedication to everything she did. Her academic achievements were equally impressive, as she earned her Associate of Arts Degree in Business Administration from Lamar University with honors; and her Bachelor of Science degree, in Trauma Psychology from Liberty University, also with honors.

Shelley was preceded in death by her parents John and Maxine O’Hara, and her siblings Shannon O’Hara and Deanna Douglas.

Shelley is survived by her husband Lee Plunkett; children,  Abaigeal Koushan and her husband Lee, Wyatt Plunkett, and Scarlett Plunkett; her sister, Kay Hall; her grandchildren, Ian, Euan, and Arwen Koushan and many neices, nephews and friends.

Though the loss of Shelley is deeply felt by all who knew her, we are grateful for the legacy of positivity and enthusiasm she leaves behind. Her infectious laughter, humor, love and her incredible ability to speak her mind with the utmost truth and accuracy will live on in the hearts and memories of her friends, family, and especially her husband. We bid farewell to this extraordinary woman, we thank God for Shelley and will forever remember her as a woman who brought joy and inspiration to our world.
