Carey Leon Gruber

August 6, 1947 ~ July 24, 2017 (age 69) 69 Years Old

Carey Leon Gruber, 69, of Deweyville, Texas, passed away on Monday, July 24, 2017, at Mid-Jefferson Hospital, in Nederland, Texas.  Visitation for family and friends will be held at Dorman Funeral Home, from 5:00 PM- 9:00 PM, on Friday, July 28, 2017.

Carey was born on Wednesday, August 6, 1947, to Mildred (Gober) and Curtis Gruber, in Bridgeport, Texas, where he spent his childhood and later received his High School Diploma.  As an adult, Carey decided to follow his family to Bon Weir, Texas. Later, Carey met his wife, Mildred Teal, working at the shipyard and they began their life together in Deweyville, Texas.  Carey was a man who loved his family and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  He enjoyed visiting with people and never seemed to meet a stranger.  Carey worked in the construction industry for many years and when he wasn’t working, he enjoyed woodworking.  Clocks were Carey’s specialty and what he created were truly a work of art which he generously gifted to family and friends.  Carey was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, who will be missed by all who knew him.

Preceding Carey in death are his parents, Curtis and Mildred Gruber, and brother, Marlin Gruber.

Those who will cherish Carey’s memory most are his loving wife, Mildred Gruber; daughter, Kailli Pyle and husband, Michael, of Fannett, Texas; sons, Wesley Gruber and wife, Terri, of Deweyville, Texas, Jason Ashmore and wife, Dana, of Deweyville, Texas, and Douglas Clark and wife, Kimberly, of Deweyville, Texas; brother, Tommy Gruber; sisters, Ethel Hartsell and Peggy Banner; grandchildren, Dylan Gruber, Alec Gruber, Hunter Harvey, Lexi Pyle, Daryenne Pyle, Presley Clark, Morgan Clark, Whintony Ellis, Maddison Bean, Allysson Bean, Seth Lacombe, and Lorida Claybar; great-grandchildren, Avrie Ellis, Liliane Lacombe, and one beautiful baby girl on the way; and numerous members of extended family and friends.
