Codie Mark Matthews, age 30, of Deweyville, Texas, passed away at his home on Thursday, July 13, 2017.  Funeral service, under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home, will be held at 10:00 AM, on  Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at United Pentecostal Church of Deweyville, with Brother Michael Orange officiating.  Visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the funeral service from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, on Tuesday, July 18, 2017,, at United Pentecostal Church of Deweyville.

Codie was born on Sunday, September 28, 1986, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Mona Rae (Sell) and Steven Mark Matthews.  At a young age, Codie and his family moved to Deweyville, Texas, where he remained a lifelong resident and attended school in Deweyville from Kindergarten through High School.  Codie was a God fearing man who loved the Lord and actively attended church at the United Pentecostal Church of Deweyville.  He was a very artistic man who enjoyed painting.  Codie loved his family dearly and enjoyed the time he was able to spend with them.  He was a son, brother, uncle, and friend, who will be missed by all who knew him.

Those who will cherish Codie’s memory most are his dad, Steven Matthews; mother, Mona Cowick; brother, Brent Roper of Orange, Texas; sisters, Megan Berry and husband, Brandon, of Deweyville, Texas, and Sophie Matthews and husband, Gampper Graham, of St. Joseph, Missouri; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Honoring Codie as Pallbearers are Paul Ortego, Robert Parker, Perry Bonnin, Jr., Brent Roper, Lucan Lawson, and Donny Prichett; Honorary Pallbearer is Walter Shafer, Jr.; Honorary Pallbearers are Nathan Berry, River Berry, Caeden Arceneaux, and Riley Arceneaux.
