Daniel Smart

Daniel Lee Smart, age 80, of Deweyville, Texas, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018. Funeral Services, under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home, will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Dorman Funeral Home in Orange, Texas. Brother John Fortenberry will be officiating services.  Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 from 6:00 until 9:00 PM at Dorman Funeral Home.

Daniel was born on Thursday, April 14, 1938, in Deweyville, Texas to parents, Josephine (Stroud) and Lee Jewel Smart. He Had been a lifetime resident of Deweyville, Texas. Daniel was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Deweyville, Texas. He was a very loving, good hearted man who loved his family dearly. He was very proud to have worked as a fire fighter in Orange, Texas for 34 years until retiring as a Captain in 1996. He was also a mechanic, anything with a motor was torn apart and put back together in the old barn. Fishing and gardening were two of his favorite hobbies that he truly enjoyed and excelled at. Daniel was a son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend who will forever be loved and missed by all who knew him.

Daniel is preceded in death by his parents, Jewel and Josephine Smart;  wife and mother of his children, Virginia Patillo Smart as well as his second wife, Opal Cain Smart.

Daniel is survived by his partner, Sharon Wilkerson;  children, Dana Smart Wilbur, Kelly Smart and wife Annette, Angela Smart and Lee Smart;  sisters, Gloria Burke and husband Miron and Glender Dailey;  grandchildren , Jana Tadlock, Jenny McMahon, Samantha Ashworth, Daniel Louis Smart, Tyler Smart and Jessica Smart;  great grandchildren, Gavin and Caiden Beaudoin.
