David Edward Joshlin, Jr., age 62 of Rayne, Louisiana, passed away on Friday, August 3, 2018 in Houston, Texas. Services to honor his life will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Dorman Funeral Home with Brother Harold Oxley officiating. Interment will follow at Bland Cemetery. Family and friends will gather two hours prior to the service on Sunday for a visitation.
David was born in Orange, Texas on November 22, 1955 to Lillie Jean Bland and David Edward Joshlin, Sr. He worked for many years as a dispatcher for Dunham Price in Westlake, Louisiana. David was known as "PawPaw Bear" to his family and “Fat Albert” to his friends. He thoroughly enjoyed hunting and fishing with his first cousin Dale Bland and holds the Louisiana Record for the 8th largest Black Drum in the state (the fish placed 6th in the state when caught in February 1999). He had his own way of doing things, but loved his family dearly.
He is preceded in death by his parents, David Edward Joshlin, Sr. and Lillie Jean Landry, and his two sisters Elizabeth Ann Joshlin and Pauline Huff.
Those left to cherish PawPaw Bear's memory are his son Jack Joshlin and his wife Corina of Sulphur, LA, his former wife, best friend and selfless caregiver Teresa LeDoux of Lake Charles, LA, brother Eddie "Bubba" Joshlin and his wife Linda of Deweyville, TX and his two grandchildren Peyton and Jowan Joshlin.
