Elsabeth Vidrine Obituary

Elsabeth Vidrine, age 81, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 in the presence of loving family. Services, under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home, will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Dorman Funeral Home in Orange, Texas. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at Dorman Funeral Home.

Elsa was born February 25, 1937 in Baraga, Michigan to Carl and Eva Murtomaki. Elsa and her siblings, Carol and Charles, grew up on the family dairy farm and air field. She attended Baraga High School from Kindergarten through her 10th grade year, then graduated from L’Anse High School in 1955. Elsa was an accomplished oboist and was a cheerleader. Elsa attended Suomi College (now Finlandia University) in Hancock, Michigan, then moved to California and attended San Diego State University. She worked at General Atomics as well as General Dynamics where she was an executive secretary. It was then that she met Earl Vidrine and they were married on December 1, 1968. They had lived in Orange, Texas since 1969 and had just recently, in the last year, moved to Heartis Assisted Living in Houston, Texas. Earl and Elsa were members of Grace Lutheran Church. They then became members of The First Assembly of God Church on 16th Street, which later became Community Church. At Community Church, “Miss Elsa” taught numerous bible studies, prayer groups and shared the Word of The Lord to all she met. She truly loved the Lord and reflected his love to strangers, friends, coworkers and family. Elsa was a lover of history, classical music and reading. She was a bible scholar and was the “go to” for anything Bible. She also embraced her Finnish Heritage her entire life.

Elsa is suvived by, her loving husband of 50 years, Earl Vidrine; daughter, Marri Lisa Vidrine Ferguson and husband Christopher of Houston, Texas; her five step children that she claimed as her own, Cindy Vidrine Marshall and husband Wayne of Red Deer, Canada, Robert Vidrine and wife Debbie of Bridge City, Texas and Debbie Vidrine Perry and husband Matthew of Orange, Texas, Craig Vidrine and wife Mandi of Benton, Arkansas and Cathy Vidrine See and husband Jim of New Braunfels, Texas; grandson, Ian Kylar; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren through her step children; brother, Charles Murtomaki of Chula Vista, California.

Elsa is preceded in death by her sister, Carol Laski and husband Warren as well as sister in law, Donna Murtomaki.
