Gerald Kent Dolley, Sr.

Gerald Kent Dolley, Sr., 84, of Orange, TX passed away on Monday, May 13, 2019.  Gerald was born Wednesday, December 12, 1934 in Waterville, ME to Herbert and Violet Dolley. After serving his country faithfully and honorably in the U.S. Navy, Gerald would work as an operator at the paper mill.  When asked about their father, his children said “you couldn’t ask for a better Dad". Gerald was an outdoors man, he loved to feed his birds and raccoons; he was an animal lover.  His son Kenneth said “he was just good people – everybody loved him”.  Gerald was big-hearted; he would do anything for anyone.  He had a great sense of humor; he was a fun free-spirited man who will truly be missed by family and friends.

Gerald is preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Vera Dolley; and a grandson, Richard Aaron Prudhomme.

Left to honor his memory are his children, Gerald Dolley, Jr., and wife, Victoria, of Orange, TX, Kathy Dolley Prudhomme, and husband, Richard, of West Lake, LA, Kenneth Dolley, of Orange, TX, Violet Odom, and husband, Bo, of Orange, TX, and Darrell Dolley, and wife, Victoria, of Willis, TX; 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; a sister, Debra Dunaway, and husband, Jim, of Orange, TX, as well as numerous other family members and friends.  Gerald is also survived by his special family members, his dog “Joey”, and his cat “Meow”.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 16, 2019 from 11:00am to 2:00pm in the Chapel of Dorman Funeral Home.  Funeral Services will follow immediate in the Chapel at 2:00pm.
