Jackie Louise Caraway
Born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas on February 1st, 1940, Jackie was the daughter of Dennis and Dola Mae Murphy. Jackie went to be with her Savior on September 2nd, 2019. She was 79 years old.
She was the youngest of nine siblings, and came from humble beginnings. She eventually made her way to Orange, Texas to be closer to her sisters and raise their families together. Her family was everything to her. She worked hard to provide for her kids as a waitress, cashier, Production Manager at Orange Casket Co., Activity Director at Orange House for Senior Adults – but none more important than being a mom, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend to those around her. She loved her family and loved everyone she came in contact with.
She was preceded in death by her parents Dennis and Dola Mae Murphy; Brothers: Fred Murphy, Robert Murphy & J.L. "Monk" Murphy. Sisters: Lenora "Bee" Ford, Maddie "Sis" Womack, Mattie "Coonie" Burke, Ruth Sellers, Liz Bridges and Son in Law, Richard "Dick" Cowan.
Left to cherish her memory are her son Duane Gault, and wife Linda of Orange and daughter Donnis Cowan of Waco. Grandsons Michael Gault and wife April of Port Neches, Stephen Gault and wife Rachel of Orange, and great granddaughter Madison. She also cherished and loved all of her nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her healthcare provider Sue Manley, her long time neighbor and friends Wallace & Ida Thomas, and those who assisted her in her time of need from Sabine Place and Kindred Hospice.
She was a member of Little Cypress Baptist Church, and had a special bond with the ladies in her Sunday School class. Visitation of family and friends will be held at Dorman Funeral Home in Orange, TX Thursday September 5th from 5-7pm. Her Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday September 6th at 10am.
In Lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Sunday School Fund of Little Cypress Baptist Church.
