James Carroll Stimac, 86, went to his heavenly home on December 13, 2019. He was born in Town Bluff, Texas on September 9,1933, and was the youngest of nine children. His family moved to Orange in 1947, and he graduated from St. Mary High School in 1952. After serving two years in the U. S. Army he worked at Texaco in Port Arthur for ten years before going to work at Firestone Polymers in Orange where he worked for 31 years before retiring in 1993.
He had many hobbies and loved building and flying radio controlled model airplanes, playing golf, target shooting, painting and photography. Most of all he loved being with his family. He was a member of the Orange County Radio Control Club and the Orange Gun Club. He was an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council 13825 and Assembly 1105 before his health began failing.
He was preceded in death by his parents Anton and Antonio Stimac; brothers John Stimac, A. T. Stimac, Frank Stimac and Maxie Stimac; sisters Elizabeth Cook, Ann Vyvial, Helen Collier and Mary Hancock.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Myrna Stimac; two daughters: Cynthia Savignano of Beaumont and Jana Wash of Austin; two stepsons: Jeff Simar of Call and David Simar of Orange; seven grandchildren: James Lesmeister, Hillary Brown, Len Savignano, Jessica Weissmann, Michael Wash, Tiffanee Simar and Jessie Simar; two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Dorman Funeral Home on Monday, December 16 from 5:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church at 10:00a.m. on Tuesday, December 17, with burial to follow at St. Mary Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Stimac, Charles Trahan, Joe Kelley, Frank Thomassee, Kerry Deason and Lowell Nance. Honorary Pallbearers are Johnny Ray Stimac and Larry Stimac.
