James Madison Waldrep, age 90 of Orange, TX passed away on Saturday December 23, 2017 in Port Arthur, TX. Mr. Waldrep was born on March 1, 1927 in Orangefield, TX to Eula Butler Waldrep and James M. Waldrep, Sr. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 plus years, Zadie Waldrep and also his son, Darryl Wayne Waldrep. Mr Waldrep retired from FINA Refinery after 30 plus years as a Machinist, but many folks will remember him for the excellent firewood that he sold to so many in Orange and Jefferson County. He would chop, deliver and stack your wood for you and follow that with a lively conversation over a cup of coffee or hot tea at your kitchen table. JM, as his wife affectionately called him, loved to garden and he was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed preparing meals with his bounty. He loved baking his famous Lemon Pound Cake and delivering it to his friends. He enjoyed people and animals of all sorts, especially his puppies! He was early to rise and worked hard all the day long, a strong willed and determined man with a kind heart and a keen sense of humor. Many thanks to all the kind individuals who cared for and loved Mr Waldrep at Rose Place over the last 2 years, you are angels on earth! Visitation for Mr Waldrep will be held at 10:00 am, Friday December 29, 2017 at Dorman Funeral Home in Orange, TX with Graveside services to follow at 11:00 am at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park, Orange, TX with the Rev. John Fortenberry officiating. In lieu of flowers, you may make donations to your favorite pet rescue site.
