Jon Henry Person, 63, of Orange, Texas, passed away in Beaumont, Texas surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, July 28, 2017. Memorial services, under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home, will be held from 5:00-9:00 PM on Tuesday,  August 1, 2017, at Dorman Funeral Home.

Jon was born on Sunday, February 14, 1954, in Orange, Texas, to Elizabeth Margret (Schierholz) and Virgil Peter Person. He and his family were lifelong residents of Orange, Texas. For 41 years, Jon was married to his wife, Donna Person, and together they raised a beautiful daughter, Meghan.

When he had the time, Jon loved to Bass fish and Deer hunt, and usually never turned down an opportunity to do such. He spent countless hours fishing on Toledo Bend where he gained many fishing stories and made priceless memories. Jon was a very intelligent and hard working man who was loving and welcoming to all. His grandchildren, Donathon and Caleb, were the light of his life. Everyone that knew Jon, knew he was a perfectionist at his job. He could run any piece of heavy equipment that there was and there wasn't many that he didn't operate during his lifetime. In Jon's earlier years he made his way through college while working at a small grocery store in Orange, as well as doing other odd end jobs. He later became a skilled carpenter and built many homes in the Winnie, Texas area. Jon also spent a lot of time on the road with his wife as a traveling Instrumentation Technician before finally accepting a career as a heavy equipment operator at Sabine River Authority in Orange, Texas, where he retired after 36 years. He was a husband, dad , brother, grandfather, uncle and friend, who will be loved, and missed, by all who knew him.

Proceeding Jon in death is his father, Virgil Peter Person.

Those who will cherish his memory most are his loving wife, Donna Person; daughter, Meghan Person Williamson of Orange, Texas; brother, Jerry Virgil Person of Hemphill, Texas; sisters, Jeanne Benoit and husband, Matt of Orange, Texas and Janet Person Barrios and husband Mark of Thibodaux, Louisiana; grandchildren, Donathon and Caleb Williamson; Mother and Father-in-law, Betty and Benny Johnson; Sister-in-law, Johnna Toohey and husband John; nieces, Kristin Briley and husband Sean, Jennifer Dalton and husband Matt, Jennifer Person and Jessica Eaves; nephews, Justin Person and wife Crikette, Derek Barrios, Matthew Benoit and Cory Benoit; Great Nieces, Hannah Ford, Olivia Craig and Avi Barrios; Great Nephews, Kaden Briley, Hunter Person and Lane Craig, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and many members of extended family.
