Lu Jean Stidham Obituary

Lu Jean Stidham, age 77 of Orange, Texas, with her family by her side went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at her home. Services to honor Lu Jean's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Dorman Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jay Thomas and Rev. Randy Fults officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park in Orange, Texas. Family and friends will gather for visitation from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Monday, October 1, 2018 at Dorman Funeral Home.

Lu Jean was born on December 25, 1940 in Smith County, Texas to Alie Katherine Kelley Armstrong and Joe Arthur Armstrong and was one of four daughters. She married her sweetheart, Felix Allen Stidham on December 8, 1956 and the two shared 46 wonderful years together.

Lu Jean worked for 3 1/2 years in the West Orange School cafeteria to put herself through nursing school. Once she received her nursing degree she worked for Dr. Howard C. Williams for 28 years. Lu Jean was also a volunteer with Red Cross for 10 years and was a member of MacArthur Heights Baptist Church. She enjoyed attending church, traveling, visiting with family and friends on the phone, long walks, raking her yard and making big fires.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Felix Allen Stidham, son Don Alvin Stidham and her parents Joe and Alie Katherine Armstrong. Her special friend, Paul Permenter.

Survivors include her son, Joe Allen Stidham and his wife Tracey of Orange, TX, three sisters; Claudia Pitner and her husband Marshall of Longview, TX, LaVone Baker and her late husband Andrew of Arp, TX and Diane Lacy and her husband Jackie of Arp, TX. Grandson, Jerid Stidham and his wife Jenny and great grandchildren, Destiny Stidham, Nicholas Harvey and Carmichael Wiley. Numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. As well as many friends.

Memorials may be made to Mac Arthur Heights Baptist Church, 3600 Nightingale St. Orange, TX 77630.

Pallbearers will be Jerid Stidham, Nicholas Harvey, Anthony Baker, Bobby Parker, Jack Brady and Joe Howard. Honorary pallbearers will be Joshua Fults and the members of Dorcas Sunday School Class.
