Mary Ovalene Tucker

March 24, 1927 ~ November 27, 2017 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Mary Ovalene Tucker, age 90 of Orange, Texas, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2017 in Orange, Texas. Graveside services, under will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens with Rev. Gary Wheeler officiating. Interment will immediately follow.

Mary was born on Thursday, March 24, 1927 in Sabine County, Texas to Ada (Lemmonds) and George Ferguson. She lived in Sabine County all of her young life until after she graduated from Hemphill High School, then moved to Orange, Texas during the time of World War II. There were many job opportunities around the Orange area at the time and Mary found her opportunity working as a cashier at the A&P Grocery Store for many years. After World War II was over, Mary met her husband, Nolan. They soon married in Jasper, Texas and were happily united for 60 blissful years. In 1960, Mary and Nolan welcomed their only child, Alex Perry Tucker, into the world and shared many wonderful years making great memories together. Every summer from the time Alex was a child through his teenage years, the family took an annual trip to Colorado in June to enjoy the scenery and attractions. She never met a stranger and loved everyone. Mary was known to be one of the most kind and caring humans that anyone ever met. Most everyone knew that Mary actually preferred to be addressed by her middle name, Ovalene. She always had a beautiful little porcelain doll collection that grew into a hobby over the years, that all started with the first doll she ever received as a little girl. A lot of the dolls came from thrift stores all over the place, as her favorite thing to do was go thrift store shopping for all kinds of antiques. Mary was of the Pentecostal Faith and was a member of First Church of Orange.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ada and George Ferguson; sister, Magdalene Solly; brothers, Curtis Ferguson and Clifton Ferguson.

Those that will cherish her memory most are her husband of 60 years, Nolan Tucker of Orange, TX.; son, Alex Perry Tucker of Orange, TX.; nieces, Freddie Jo Shaver of Beaumont, TX. and Shirley Jacks of Center, TX.; nephew, Benny Ferguson of Silsbee, TX. and cousin, Evon Trumps of Tyler, TX.

Services are under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home.
