Melvin Ray Reese was born on July 1, 1940 in Brookville, Indiana to Elmer and Ella Reese. Melvin lived in Indiana until he moved to Texas in 1978, where he resided until his death on August 20, 2019.
Melvin is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Ella Reese; his wife, Nancy: sisters, Freda Kelley, Alvona Kelley, Dessie Anderson, and Zola Davidson; and a brother, Arlan Reese.
Melvin is survived by his children, Randy Reese, of Orange, TX, Sharon Hantz, and husband, Rod, of Missouri, Brandon Reese, and wife, Jennifer, of Orange, TX, and Shannon Reese, of Dayton, TX; grandchildren, Melony, Ashley, Randal Jr., Tiffany, Victoria, Gabrielle, Madison, Kylee, Ethan, and Kaleb; great grandchildren, Jade, Rian, Reese, Layne, Rivers, Skylar, Logan, Tyler, and Devannie; 4 brothers, a sister, numerous nieces and nephews, and the friends he considered family.
Melvin was known as a hard-working man who was devoted to his late wife, Nancy, dedicated to his children and was caring to his family as a whole. He was known as “Dad”, “Papa”, “Grandpa”, and “Uncle Melv” and was known to be loving to all. He was a man who loved singing to himself in his garden which he loved taking care of as much as friends and family.
Melvin will be missed by all who loved and cared for him. He will continue to be remembered as a good man, husband, father, and grandfather.
