On Saturday, March 5, 1927, Pearl was born to parents Adolph and Ruth Rabalais, in Gueydan, Louisiana.  She was a devout Christian woman and member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  Pearl was a resident of Orange, Texas, for over 60 years, after coming from Lake Charles, Louisiana, with her husband, Lee Roy Duprie, Sr.  Together, Pearl and her husband raised a beautiful family and Pearl worked hard to maintain her beloved home.  It was no secret that Pearl was a wonderful cook.  Pearl worked many years for the American Legion as Head Cook and is remembered by all who knew her for the meals she would cook; gumbo with potato salad, steak and gravy, and her famous chocolate bread.  In addition to being a wonderful cook, Pearl was an excellent seamstress, who made many of the school clothes for her children and also enjoyed tatting, creating angels at Christmas.  When time allowed, Pearl also loved to sit around the table with her friends, drinking coffee, and sharing stories.  Pearl was a mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, and friend, who will be missed by all who knew her.

Preceding Pearl in death are her parents, Adolph and Ruth Rabalais; wonderful man and father of her three children, Lee Roy Duprie, Sr.; brothers, Preston LeBlanc, Adolph Rabalais, Jr., and Henry Rabalais; and grandson, Brent Duprie.

Those who will cherish Pearl’s memory most are her son, Lee Roy Duprie, Jr. and his wife, Cornelia, of Kirbyville, Texas; daughters, Carolyn Fenton of Orange, Texas, and Susan Skinner of Orange, Texas; grandchildren, Chad Fenton, Stephanie Brown, Brian Duprie, Kyle Skinner, and Kevin Skinner; 12 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous members of extended family.
