Raymond Beckwith Ferris

Raymond Beckwith Ferris, age 91, of Orange, Texas, passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2018. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 2:00 PM, at Dorman Funeral Home in Orange, Texas. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 1:00 PM until service time. Committal and Rite of Interment will immediately follow services at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park, in Orange, Texas.

Raymond was born on Friday, May 27, 1927, in Roanoke, Virginia to parents, Octavia (Murray) and Ray William Ferris. He was a long time resident of Orange, Texas for 53 years, but lived all over & traveled the world. while in the military. Raymond made a career as a Sailor in the United States Navy, where he saw many different places and made many memories. Raymond was about as proud a Sailor as they come and was a very dignified veteran with all the respect in the world for the American Flag and the freedom that he helped fight for as he served his country with pride. He met the love of his life when he met his wife, Jessie (Welch). They were blissfully married for 53 years. When he had the time, he loved to fish, swimming, card games, puzzles, dominoes and a little bit of gardening. He also loved making money and pretty women. Raymond was educated when it came to electronics and enjoyed all the latest technology. He was an undeniable, hardcore democrat that would talk politics with you anytime, anywhere. Raymond loved babies and especially his grandchildren, as they brought much joy to his life. Raymond was a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, & great great grandfather, brother and friend who will forever be loved and missed by all who knew him.

Raymond is preceded in death by his parents, Octavia and Ray Ferris; sons, Richard Ferris and Robert Ferris; brother, Archie Ferris.

Raymond is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Jessie Ferris; daughters, Martha Walker and husband John Walker and Connie Swenson; sons, Phillip Ferris and wife Barbara, Paul Ferris and wife Donna, Dennis Ferris and wife Robyn; grandchildren, Stacy Prato and husband Joe, Andrew Ferris and wife Eva, Adam Ferris and wife Samantha, Emmylou Dooley and husband Lance, Amanda Frederico and husband Evan, Dylan Ferris, Meredith Walker, Natalie Hardee and husband Bradley, Grand children, Stacie Ferris,Wesley Flores, Ashley Kennedy and husband John Kennedy V, Shea Swenson and wife Linnea Swenson, Michael Cherry Sr.; Great-grandchildren, Cooper Prato, Rylan Ferris, Eli Ferris, Chloe Ferris, Brooks Dooley, Caroline Dooley, Parker Dooley, Adaline Frederico, Kaden Flores, Alana Flores, Austin Flores, Jaxon Watts, Jaelynn Kennedy, Olivia Swenson, Rilei Hass, Michael Cherry, Jr. and Brandon Cherry; Great Great -grandchildren, Emberly Flores and Carson Cherry.
