Robert Leon Miller, age 86, of Orange, Texas passed away on Friday, November 17, 2017. Services, under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home, will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at Cowboy Church in Orange, Texas, with Brother David Turner of Little Cypress Baptist Church officiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2017, from 5:00-8:30 PM at Dorman Funeral Home in Orange, Texas. Interment will immediately follow the funeral service at Wilkinson Cemetery.

Robert was born on April 23, 1931 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania to Ester Weidle Miller and Ira H. Miller. Of six children, Robert was the baby of the family. Robert was enlisted in the United States Navy from 1951 until 1955. While enlisted, Robert fought to protect his country during the Korean War. After his time in the Navy, Robert took on a career as a meat cutter. Robert and his wife of 50 years, Dorris Powell Miller, moved to Orange, Texas in 1967. After Retirement, Robert decided he needed something to do to occupy his time, so he became a bus driver for the Southeast Texas Transit. For 5 wonderful years, Robert drove that bus all over Orange and met many wonderful people over the years, who he called friends. He was always known to be a bit of a flirt from time to time. Robert also enjoyed playing slow pitch softball with his church group as it reminded him of his younger years, playing high school baseball where he was once prospected by the Philadelphia Phillies. God, Family and Love of Country was of the most importance to Robert. He always made it a priority to go watch his children and grandchildren play sports, where he was always their biggest fan. His grandchildren were the light of his life.

Robert is proceeded in death by his wife of 50 years, Dorris Powell Miller; brothers, Herold, Warren, Kenneth and Russell and sister, Mary Frances Prutzman.

Robert is survived by his children, Warren Miller and wife Geri of Beaumont, Texas; Sheryl LeJeune and husband David of Scott, Louisiana; Gayle Stephenson and husband Robert of Orange, Texas; Keith Miller and wife Lori of Lees Summit, Missouri; Barbara Richard and husband Jason of Orange, Texas; grandchildren, Tina Miller, Bobbi Miller, Mallory Miller, Samantha Richard, Chad Richard and wife Krista, Phillip Richard, Dakota Boyce and husband Andrew, Jordan Dillard and wife Sarah and Madison Miller; great grandchildren, Kingston Knight, Mia Miller, Carson Boyce and Blake Richard.
