Robert was born on Thursday, February 1, 1936, in Phoroah, Oklahoma to parents, Mildred (Farrar) and Orda Lee Parris. He had been a resident of Orange, Texas since 1981, after moving from Festus, Missouri. Bob was a very loving, understanding man who loved his family and worked very hard to provide for them.Bobstarted his career driving trucks in the Oil Fields and then went to work for a cement company before moving to Orangewhere he became a plant manager for River Cement Company. During his lengthy career he also worked as an insurance agent for Farm Bureau and drove buses for high school and church trips. He was a proud American Solider being part of the National Guard and the Army Reserves from which he was honorably discharged in 1961. He attended and was an elder in several churches that he and his wife attended over the years. He had a servant's heart and mindset and was a frequent volunteer. Bob's late wife, Geraldine Parris, played the piano at every church they attended and honored the Lord with all of her music. Gospel music was a huge part of their lives and they mixed their love of music with their love for travel by attending many Gaither concerts. Bob and Geraldine were actually two of the elders that helped start the Family Worship Center Church in Beaumont, Texas. Bob loved John Wayne and Oklahoma university football but his greatest loves were his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Even when his health was declining, he would still perk up for them and enjoy the memories he made with all of them.
