Toby Sonnier, Sr. Obituary

Toby Allen Sonnier, Sr., age 69 of Orange, Texas passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. Services to honor Toby's life will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 5, 2019 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Joseph P. Daleo officiating. Entombment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Family and friends will gather for a visitation from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, August 4, 2019 at Dorman Funeral Home. A rosary service will be held at 5:00 PM on Sunday, led by Deacon Melvin Payne.

He was born in Orange, Texas to Margaret Hill Sonnier and Joseph Ivy Sonnier on September 1, 1949. He graduated from Little Cypress High School and joined the United States Army. While in the Army, he served in Vietnam from 1968 to 1970 and received many medals, including a Purple Heart. He retired from Inland Orange after 27 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 13 years June Sonnier, two children, Toby Allen  Sonnier, Jr. and his wife Mandy of Buna, TX and Misty Palumbo and her husband Paul of Lumberton, TX, mother of his children Debra Coleman of Buna, TX, step children Amber Perkins and her husband Taylor of Orangefield, Marshall McRoberts of Lexington, SC, Donna McRoberts of Houston, TX and Cary Buckner of Orange, TX. Eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren, siblings; Steve Sonnier and his wife Judy of Wasilla, Alaska, Phyllis Henderson and her husband Bill of Orange, TX, John  Sonnier and his wife Matilda of Orange, TX, Charles Sonnier and his wife Helen  of Tallulah Falls, GA, Lorna Robinson and her husband Russell of Pawnee, Oklahoma, Melissa Best  and her husband Tommy of Buna, TX, Thomas Sonnier and his wife Kim of Orange, TX, and aunt Cynthia Tuter  of Orange, TX. As well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The Sonnier family would like to extend a "Very Special Thanks" to Riceland Hospice and Staff for their wonderful loving care of Toby. Also, we would like to thank Family Cares Staff, Pearl, Kay, Pam, Mary and Arlie for their love and kindness and TJ Helms for his compassionate care and the love he showed Toby.

Pallbearers honoring Toby will be Chad Sonnier, Jarrod Sonnier, Logan Sonnier, Eric Sonnier, Brett Sonnier, Nolan Sonnier, Blake Falcon and Paul Sonnier. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Henderson, Mark Sonnier, Luke Hughes and Jason Bergeron.
