Vera McCord, age 96 of Orange, Texas, passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, September 28, 2019 in Orange, Texas. Services to honor Vera's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at Dorman Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Milner officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will gather for a visitation from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at Dorman Funeral Home.
Vera was born on January 27, 1923 in Roanoke, Louisiana to Syrena Cenith Richard Clement and Oran Charles Clement. Vera had made Orange, Texas her home since the late 1940's. She and her husband Ralph were the owners and operators of Ralph's Market. Vera was also a faithful member for over 60 years of Calvary Baptist Church of West Orange. She was an excellent cook and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Ralph McCord, parents Oran and Syrena Clement, sister Leola Boudreaux, son Ronald Ralph McCord and grandchildren, Judith Ann McCord and Krystal McCord.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children; Tim McCord and his wife Kathy of Orange, TX, Traylor McCord of Orange, TX and Marlene Ballast of Orange, TX, daughter-in-law Lamore McCord of Orange, TX, sister Zelma Free of Sulphur, LA, nine grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
Vera's great grandsons will be honoring her as pallbearers, Travis Ballast, LJ Ballast, Michael Arsenault, Kolton McCord, Ronald Elkins and AJ Arsenault.
The McCord family would like to thank the staff and caregivers from Prescribed Home Health and Best Hospice for their wonderful care and support. Words cannot express the gratitude to our three "Angels" Shanika, Tremika and Chelsea for their love and kindness they gave to our Mother.
