Christopher Chisholm Obituary

Christopher Joel “Chris” Chisholm (contrary to the popular belief that he was persistently 28 or his insistence that his age began going backward once he turned 50 as perpetuated by his Facebook profile) was 54 years of age when he earned his seat at the table prepared for him in heaven by Jesus.  Chris was born in Odessa, Texas on July 18, 1967 to Ulan Benjamin Chisholm and Ethel Jeanette Henley Chisholm.   He was the youngest child and only son of the couple.  Chris is survived by his sisters: Lori Chisholm, Julie Chisholm-Mesecher and husband Alan Mesecher, Wendy Chisholm Young and husband Billy, Lisa Chisholm Agular and husband Mike, and sister-in-law Mari Hunt and husband Johnny, along with all the sisterschildren, his beloved nieces and nephews.

Chris managed Jet Auto Lube in Orange, TX for 20 years.  When the business closed after Hurricane Rita in 2005, Chris began working in the oil and gas industry and learned the skills of iron working, boilermaker, and pipefitter.  He was known as “Smiley” on jobs and his coworkers frequently called him out as different because of it.  They frequently asked if he was a “Christian” because of his actions.  This friends, is the best compliment a person can ever receive.  Chris was known by his warm smile and loving spirit, especially for all children.  Chris earned an Associate Degree in Process Operations and was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.  His teachers said his bright smile lit up the classroom.

Chris is survived by his wife of 18 years, LeAnn Jeanette Chisholm.  Chris and LeAnn co-parented their children with Chris’s former wife of 11 years Traci Chisholm Authement and husband Tommy: Nakala Chisholm Delarue and husband Joshua, Deric Chisholm and wife Teona, Jessica Roberts Jeanis and husband Benjamin, Tyler Chisholm, and Layla Chisholm.  Chris was a tough yet loving father of his children, grandchildren, adopted grandchildren, and all children he ministered to.  Chris loved all of his 18 grandchildren: Bryson Chisholm, Camden Jeanis, Harmony Chisholm, Cale Chisholm, Karsyn Chisholm, Shawn Chisholm, Aiden Chisholm, Joshua and Caleb Jeanis, Alivia Delarue, Moana Chisholm, and his “adopted” grandchildren Jonah and Dakota Stewart, Keith, Trystan, Audrey, Jude, and Arden Davidson along with all of the children of Triumph Church and their Little Cypress neighborhood.

Chris faithfully served the Triumph Church children’s ministry with LeAnn for 8 years and the children’s ministry at Community Christian Church, Orange prior to their service at Triumph Church.  Chris was a previous member of Community Christian Church, First Baptist Church, and North Orange Baptist Church (all in Orange Texas) where he had beloved friends. He loved his Triumph Church family as much as his own clan Chisholm.  Chris was very proud of his Scottish Heritage and the fact that he was distantly related to Taylor Swift because they both descended from Robert “The Bruce” of Scotland. Chris leaves his family in the protective hands of his Lord Jesus Christ and their new Laird, Deric Chisholm, his eldest son.
