Edward Eugene Porter

Mr. Edward Eugene Porter, age 82, of Trinity, Texas, (a former longtime resident of Bridge City) passed away Thursday, September 30, 2021, in Beaumont, Texas.

Mr. Porter was born March 31, 1939, in Covington, Kentucky, and had lived in Bridge City a number of years before moving to Trinity County in 2008. He proudly served his country and was a veteran of both the U.S. Marine Corps as well as the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Porter worked several years as a truck driver and through the course of his career had hauled quite a variety of products. He was a dedicated member of Harvest Chapel Church.

His survivors include his wife of 60 years, Emogene Porter of Trinity; a son, David Porter and wife Susan of Bridge City; daughters, Linda Frederick and husband Charles of Orange and Lisa Gonzales and husband Mike of Mauriceville; brothers, George Porter of Greenup, Kentucky, and Malcom Davis and Roger Davis, both of Columbus, Ohio; a sister, Karen Appleton of Sandusky, Ohio; grandchildren, Melissa Dreyer, Henry Gonzales, Lauren Whipkey, Cierra Perry, and Michelle Prosperie; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ervin Porter; his mother, Thelma Porter Davis; sons, Shawn Porter and Michael Edward "Mike" Porter; and a granddaughter, Nicole Regel.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at Harvest Chapel Church in West Orange.

Funeral services are set for 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 7, at Harvest Chapel Church in West Orange with Pastor Ruth Burch officiating. Interment will follow at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park with military honors provided by the Southeast Texas Veterans Group.

Pallbearers: David Porter, Charles Frederick, Mike Gonzales, Blake Perry, Josh Whipkey, and Nick Gonzales.
