Edward L. "Bubba" Shannon, Sr.

Edward L. “Bubba” Shannon, Sr. age 80, of Buna, Texas, passed from this life on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at his home. Funeral Services will be held at, 1:00 PM on Friday, May 14, 2021 at Dorman Funeral Home in Orange, Texas, with Brother Lee Everhart officiating services. Family and friends will gather for visitation from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Thursday, May 13, 2021, at Dorman Funeral Home. Interment will follow services at, Sudduth Bluff Cemetery in, Buna, Texas. Services are under the direction of, Dorman Funeral Home.

Bubba was born in Orange, Texas on Monday, December 23, 1940, to Beatrice (Bilbo) and Edward Lee Shannon. Bubba was a longtime resident of Mauriceville, Texas, as well as “the pocket”, where he was known and loved by many. He met the love of his life when he came to know, Barbara (Ray). The couple shared 56 years of marriage but made a lifetime of memories, together with their two sons. Bubba served his country proudly as a soldier in the United States Army. A majority of his 4 years spent in the service involved him being stationed overseas in Germany, in the Swiss Alps. The stories of the things he experienced and places that were seen, were nothing short of incredible and intriguing. The family residents of Mauriceville for 33 years before moving to their current home place in “the pocket”, where the family has resided for the last 23 years. Bubba enjoyed being in the great outdoors but in particular, he loved to deer hunt. He was very proud to be able to teach his sons, as well as his grandchildren about deer hunting. He taught them about the importance of hunting, how it brought food into the family’s home, as well as establish a love for the sport and the great outdoors. He was a Godly man and a very proud member of the Full Gospel Restoration Church in Orange, Texas.

Bubba was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will forever be loved and missed by all who knew him.

Bubba is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Beatrice Shannon, as well as his daughter-in-law, Vanessa Shannon.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 56 years, Barbara Shannon; sons, Eddie Shannon, as well as Keith Shannon and wife Altonette; sisters, Linda Day, Sandy Ezell and Debbie Weldon; grandchildren, Hunter Shannon, Holli Shannon and Garrett Shannon, as well as, a host of family and friends.
