Elva Jane Gordy “Janie”, age 87, of Orange, Texas, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Graveside services and Interment will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Granger Cemetery in Duncan Woods with Brother Keith Pennington officiating services. Family and friends will begin arriving at the cemetery at 1:00 PM. Services are under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home.
Janie was born in Orange, Texas on December 12, 1933 to Tresmond Edgar “T.E.” Granger and Druly Taylor Granger. She was a lifetime resident of Orange, Texas where she was known and loved by many friends, most of all, by her family. In her younger years, Janie worked at Granger Seafood, as well as, Big B Donuts, all while being a homemaker and a strong, single mother. Janie loved Bingo, making food for the hummingbirds, and loved all of her plants especially her orchids. She loved all of her family and loved the big family gatherings!
Janie was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, and friend who will be forever loved and missed by all who knew her.
Janie is preceded in death by her daughter, Tammy Longron Musmeche; parents, Mr. and Mrs. T.E. Granger; grandsons, Johnathon Jordan and Chaz Block; siblings, Rita Cotton, Tommy Granger, Marcella “BB” Granger-Nelson, Ann Stouffer, Jean Eastep and Jeannie “Teet” Turpin,as well as, Loretta Granger Black.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Kathy Poillion of Orange, Dolly Longron-Webb of Orange, Sydney Longron of Orangefield, as well as, Gwen Longron and Richard Jones of Orangefield; sons, Todd Longron, Sr. and wife Judy of Orangefield, Edgar Longron, Sr., and wife Donna of Buna, Terry Longron and Barbara Waters of Orangefield; brother, Charles Richard Granger and wife Gloria (Sissy) of Orangefield; sisters, Bobbie Areno and husband Johnnie of Sulphur, La.
The family would like to send a very special, Thank You, to Southwest Home Health, Inc., as well as, Heart to Heart Hospice for the wonderful, loving care that was given to their mother.
