Eula Sawyer Obituary

Eula Van Sawyer, age 92, of Orange, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at The Meadows Nursing Home in Orange, Texas. Funeral arrangements, made under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home, will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018, at 10:00 AM, with Pastor Tim Sawyer officiating, at Dorman Funeral Home in Orange, Texas.

Eula was born on Thursday, November 3, 1925, in Detroit, Texas to parents, Lura Mae (Wilson) and Patrick Van Dyke Melton. She lived in LaMarque, Texas for 43 years where she found the love of her life, E.J. Sawyer, Jr.. E.J. and Eula were married for 36 years. Eula moved to Orange, TX where she lived for 19 years. She was acaring and loving woman who loved her family and friends. Family was everything to Eula. She loved to take care of people, especially her kids and grandkids. She found joyin being a home maker.Everyone who knew Eula loved the smile on her face. Even in her last days she shared the joy of the Lord with everyone who came in contact with her. She was very involved in the church, Highlands Baptist Church in LaMarque, Texas and First Baptist Church of Vidor, Texas. She was known as a caregiver with a servants heart who loved the Lord and trusted in Him totally. Eula was an avid “crafter” and loved to collect “stuff”. She loved to craft with her grandchildren whenever possible. Her grandchildren lovingly called her MoMo.

Eula is preceded in death by her loving husband of 36 years, E.J. Sawyer, Jr. and parents, Lura Mae and Patrick Van Dyke Melton.

Eula is survived by her children, Jay Michael Sawyer and wife Liana Kay of Amarillo, Texas and Timothy Ray Sawyer and wife Seana Gale of Orange, Texas; grandchildren, Natalie Rene’ Brown and husband Patrick Hamilton, Scott Andrew Sawyer, Hailee Erin Sawyer, Katherine Rose Petty and husband Nathaniel Wayne, Jayson Andrew Sawyer and Noah Jordan Sawyer; great grandchildren, Gunner Wayne Petty, Caroline Rose Petty and Ryder Quinn Petty.
