Frances was born on October 10, 1927, in Orange, Texas, to parents Marie Alicia “Mary” Marks Nezat and Numa Luke Nezat, Sr. Frances was the last of the family’s ten children to pass away. Family meant everything to Frances, and she was fortunate enough to have her sister Betty with her at the nursing home for many years. The two sisters loved to laugh and play argue about who was loved the most. Frances was married to her sweetheart, Gerald for 60 years until he passed away in 2008. The couple made their home in the SETX and Louisiana area to raise their three children. She retired after more than 30 years from Weingartens Grocery. Frances enjoyed camping with her husband Gerald at Rayburn Lake. She also loved to spend her spare time sewing, crocheting, and playing bingo. But, Frances loved the Lord most of all and enjoyed attending church, whether it was her home church or other Catholic Churches in the area. Frances will be greatly missed by all that knew her kind and humorous spirit, but should find comfort in knowing, she’s in heaven with Gerald and probably playing bingo with her sisters.
Frances is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald D. Cockerham, son Gerald Allen Cockerham and his wife Mona, granddaughter Trixie Broussard, son-in-law Robert Campbell, parents Luke and Mary Nezat, sisters; Betty Lou Fulmer, Olamph Peery, Ethel Conway, Viola Vance, Mary Louise Granger and Hazel Nezat, brothers; Charles Nezat, Numa Luke Nezat, Jr. and Lawrence Nezat.
