Frances Marie (Lyon) Jones

Frances Lyon Jones, age 88 of Orange, Texas, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2020 at her home. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, January 31, 2020 at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park with Pastor John Sims officiating. Family and friends will gather from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on Friday, January 31, 2020 at Dorman Funeral Home.

Frances was born in Orange, Texas on January 29, 1931 to Vera Smith Lyon and Ralph Nelson Lyon, Sr. She was a homemaker who raised eight children and loved her family very much. Frances was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church. She always enjoyed reading her bible until her eyesight started to fail and then she looked forward to her family reading to her. She was always quick with the correct answers to Jeopardy and spent hours doing crossword puzzles.

She is preceded in death by her husband Melbourne Clinton Jones, Sr., two sons Melbourne Clinton Jones, Jr. and Ronald Wayne Jones, daughter Lori Jones, parents Ralph and Vera Lyons, Sr., a brother Ralph Nelson, Jr., and two sisters Dorothy Lyon and Patsy Fissette.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son Larry Glen Umipeg and his wife Judy of Vera Cruz, NM, five daughters; Melba Marie Jones of Austin, TX, Millicent Goodwin and her husband Jim of Ft. Meyers, FL, Renee Kelley and her husband Charles of Forest, MS, Annette Moore and her husband Dale of Dripping Springs, TX and Carla Lavergne and her husband Bubba of Mauriceville, TX, nineteen grandchildren and twenty five great grandchildren.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Dorothy Coburn and Christy Wilson for the wonder care and love during her last days.
