Frances Zavala Obituary

Frances Evelyn Zavala, age 89, of Orange, Texas, went home to heaven, to join her husband Cecil, on Thursday, January  6, 2022 in Beaumont, Texas. The family will gather to remember and celebrate Frances’s life at 1:00 PM, on Monday, January 24, 2022, at St. Maurice Catholic Church, in Mauriceville.  Interment will immediately follow, weather permitting, at King Cemetery.

Frances was born on February 18, 1932 in Sugarland, Texas to parents, Leona McCarver Fregia and Harvey Lee Fregia. She was a longtime faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Frances took great pride in her job of being a school bus driver for LCMISD and retired after 30 years. She was married to her husband, Cecil for 53 years before he passed away in April of 1991. The couple raised their five children in the Orange area. She enjoyed quilting and spending time with her family that she loved so much. Frances loved being on the go, whether it was running around town or trips to see her sisters, she just loved to be going. She will be greatly missed by all that were impacted with her kind and loving spirit.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Zavala, a son Lawrence Berry Zavala, parents Harvey and Leona Fregia, a sister Jeanette Kolakowski and a brother Harvey Lee Fregia.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children; Arvis Howard of Mauriceville, TX, Stanley C. Zavala of Friendswood, TX, Charlotte Zavala of Mauriceville, TX and Jessie Zavala and his wife Patty of Nederland, TX, two sisters, Mary Alice “Mert” Walker of LaPorte, TX and Nancy Markham of Deer Park, TX, seven grandchildren; Danielle Bodin and her husband Chris of Orange, TX, Aaron Howard and his wife Shannon of Mauriceville, TX, Stanley M. Zavala and his wife Aleisha of Friendswood, TX, Tracey Ruthstrom and her husband Caleb of Vidor, TX, Wesley Wilson of Mauriceville, TX Aceson Zavala and his wife Mandi of Sour Lake, TX and Isaiah Zavala and his wife Allison of Mauriceville, TX, seventeen great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.

Arrangements were made under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home.
