Gale Smith Obituary

Gale Eugene Smith Sr, age 71, of Orange, Texas, passed at his residence on Sunday, March 20, 2022 in Orange, Texas.  A celebration of life to honor Gale will be held from 1:00PM to 5:00PM, Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Dorman Funeral Home.

Gale was born in Gist, Texas on November 6, 1950, to parents, Charlie and Myrtle Howard Smith. He had been a long time resident in Orange, Texas.  Gale retired from American Bridge after 19 years of faithful service and then retired from LCMCISD after working in the maintenance department for 21 years.

Gale found great pleasure in catching fish, roaming the woods while hunting and exercising his green thumb when gardening, but mostly he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. His family meant the world to him. He was the kind of dad and grandfather that would create unique sculptures from playdough with his grandchildren all at the same time laughing and picking with his children.  Gale was a strong willed person who had a giving soul, his love for Wilie Nelson was legendary. He was meticulous in his ways, but was always willing to help others. Gale will be greatly missed by all those he impacted with his love and friendship.  His work ethics, building a fire for “dad,” and all the beautiful memories created will be deeply cherished and engraved in the hearts of all who knew and love him.

He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Smith and mother Myrtle Smith, twin brother Glenn Smith, brothers, Charlie Howard and Bill Smith, sister, Verma Jerrell and Opal Phillips.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter Dona Brown #daddysgirlforever and husband Carlos, son, Gale Eugene Smith Jr and wife Kimberly, sister, Freda Odem, grandchildren, Kirstie Cleven, Sara Smith, Kelsey Gordon, Hunter Smith, Scott Roberts, Justin Smith, Haleigh Smith, Victoria Smith, William Kirkwood, Talya Alvarez, Jazmin Alvarez, LiLiana Alvarez, Jazlyn Alvarez and Brandon Brown, as well as five great grand children.
