Gary Cribb Obituary

We are sad to announce the Death of a beloved Husband, Father and Friend, Gary Louis Cribb. He died peacefully January the 10th, 2022 in the early morning hours. He was born in Bremerton, Washington, to Albert James Cribb and Leulle Anne (Vosgien) Cribb at 12:25 PM on December the 9th, 1937. He was well loved.

What to say about Daddy the father, Honey the husband or Gary the friend? Well…He lived life on his own terms! Always did, even his death. Daddy died exactly where he wanted to. He didn’t suffer. I do not know another person that in the course of life so many things that fell in favor of him! Daddy should have died years ago! But he cheated death time and time again! With the help of his wife, Sylvia Mary (Dupuy) Cribb and his 4 children; Ella L. Muhollan, Christine Vermeulen Hanchey, Jeff Cribb and Ilian J. Cribb. Throughout Dads life we were called into service (whether we wanted to nor not! LOL) to take care of this and that, anything from life saving treatments to finding someone for him!! Actually I don’t know how we accomplished some of these supernatural feats! BUT WE DID! And if we weren’t enough to get it done, my cousin, Marilyn Dupuy Lewis was conscripted!! That’s because of LOVE. He commanded and we obeyed. He had a presence about him and I guess you wouldn’t be far from the truth if you called him a man’s man? He served in the Navy, met and married my MOM. Here again is where fate favored Daddy. My mother, I know in my heart, is the only woman in the world that could have been Daddy’s wife. Anybody else in the world would not have made it! LOL. They were married on August 4th, 1956. Something that I think about from time to time is HOW was this possible that these two souls came together??? From Washington State to the swamps of Louisiana…That he found my mother and her being exactly what he needed. Yeah, the Lord works in mysterious ways for sure. Daddy finished his service and moved to Orange to be closer to my Moms family. He went to work at American Bridge and continued through Livingston ship yard. At one point Mom worked with him! He had a lot of hobbies. He was never bored and neither were WE! We sure do love him and he will be missed more than words can describe. We are shattered by this loss. There’s a huge void that will never be filled. We are proud to call this man DADDY.

Daddy will have his viewing and service on Monday, January the 17th at Dorman Funeral Home in Orange, Texas. Between the hours of 5-7 and then the service at 7 with light refreshments afterwards. To All of you who knew Gary throughout your lives please feel free to join us and maybe say a few words? Or just stop in and tell him goodbye ole friend!

Written with love by his daughter, Christine.
