Jerry Lynn Bishop, age 72 of Orange, Texas, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2020 in Beaumont, Texas. A graveside service to honor Jerry’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 31, 2020 at Eaves Cemetery in Gist, Texas under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home.
Jerry was born in Orange, Texas on June 10, 1948 to Maxine Brown Bishop and Ezra Earl Bishop, SR. He graduated from West Orange High School, where he was the first All American football player. He went on to play football at Tyler Junior College and then on to the University of Texas to play football. Jerry could do just about anything he put his mind to. He had a wonderful ability of being able to make neon signs, was an avid reader and he enjoyed selling firewood. Jerry loved his family and especially his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Maxine Bishop, SR, brothers; Earl Bishop, JR, Max Bishop, Richard Bishop and Butch Bishop and his sister Mary Stine.
Those left to cherish his memory are his companion Paula Ann Blackwell of Orange, TX, daughters Johanna Bishop of Orange, TX and Blakeley Parkhurst of Orange, TX, step-children, Jason Blackwell of Orange, TX, Brent Blackwell and his wife Julie of Port Neches, TX and Shawn Blackwell and his wife Natalie of Lumberton, TX, two brothers, Ronnie Bishop and his wife Joyce of Toledo Bend and Edwin “Jimbo” Bishop of Orange, TX, four sisters; Bobbye Taylor of Orange, TX, Patricia Gunter of Orange, TX, Carol Bonin of Orange, TX and Diane Bishop of Orange, TX, and nine grandchildren; Adalynn Phillips, Connor Blackwell, Cadence Blackwell, Aspen Blackwell, Tyler Blackwell, Drake Blackwell, Kenslee Blackwell, Zaylee Blackwell and Easton Blackwell.
Pallbearers honoring Jerry will be Shawn Blackwell, Brent Blackwell, Jason Blackwell, Ronnie Bishop, Donnie Darden and Bradley Miller.
