Howard Harrison, Sr. Obituary

Howard Eugene Harrison, age 72, of Orange, Texas, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2020. A Memorial Gathering to honor Howard’s life will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 16, 2020, at Dorman Funeral Home in Orange, Texas, with Pastor Chris Eppler speaking at 7:00 PM.

Howard, also known as, “Happy”, was born in Orange, Texas on Wednesday, December 3, 1947, to parents, Floy (Hearn) and Willie Howard Harrison. He was a lifelong resident of Orange, Texas where he was known and loved by many. He was a people person who loved to visit with everyone, as well as buy gifts for some and bibles for everyone, out of the goodness of his heart. He would give the shirt off of his back to anyone in need, without hesitation. He loved his family with everything he had in him and enjoyed spending quality time with them, whenever life allowed. Watching football and going fishing were two of his very favorite things to do and he did them often. When it was time to “wet a line”, Howard would always pick up the phone and call his fishing buddy and cousin, Robert Harrison. Howard believed in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and was very strong in his faith. He was a longtime and proud member of Mauriceville Church of Christ.

Howard was a loving son, father, brother and wonderful friend, who will forever be loved and missed by all who knew him.

Howard is survived by his loving daughter, Lori Broussard and husband Carl; brother, Allen Harrison; sister, Janice Greenwell and Robert Bruner; a host of nieces, nephews and friends; mother of his children, Brenda Kelly, as well as, a host of cousins.

Howard is preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Floy Harrison; son, Eugene Harrison; sister, Linda Zerko; grandparents, Cordy and Buck Hearn and Ivy and John Harrison.

The family would like to extend a very special, Thank You, to everyone that helped care for Happy. Nita Harrison and Charlotte Cobb, both of whom cared for him while he was still able to live at his own residence; The staff at “KeKe’s Place” for providing him with wonderful care during his stay there; Best Hospice of Texas, for their professionalism and first class care they provided him while at his residence and “KeKe’s place”; Dr Le and his staff for their wonderful care during his stay at, The Medical Center of Southeast Texas; Heart to Heart Hospice, who did an amazing job with his care and support during his last days, as well as, a very special, Thank You, to his assigned Heart to heart nurse, Jeana Allen, who went above and beyond so that he never went without seeing his daughter. If his daughter, Lori, couldn’t make it in person, Jeana would always bring her phone over to make sure that the two got to see one another, via, FaceTime. The family would also like to thank, Chaplin Mike Anderson, as well as, the remaining staff at Heart to Heart Hospice, for their wonderful and heartfelt care during his last days.
