James "Jim" Ray Mestepey

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of James "Jim" Ray Mestepey, age 93, of Orange, Texas, Wednesday April 13, 2022 in Houston, Texas.  Visitation will be held at St. Francis Assisi, Orange, Texas, Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at 5:00PM, Vigil at 6:00PM and Rosary at 7:00PM.  A Mass will be held the following day Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at 10:00AM at St. Francis Assisi, Orange, Texas. Interment will follow Mass at Franklin Cemetery, Franklin, Louisiana.

Mr. Mestepey was born in Longville, Louisiana to John and May Mestepey on June 18, 1928.  He lived in Orange, Texas for over 50 years. 

Jim enjoyed a full life from the time he was born.  He played college football for McNeese State and Southern Louisiana Institute (SLI.)  He graduated from SLI with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and held a Professional Engineer license.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the JCs, and Texas Water Commission. After college, Jim worked at Lockheed Martin, Freeze, Sabine Industries, Firestone (US and France), and Dorman Funeral Home.  Jim was also a Kentucky Colonel, a member of the National Guard and served in the Army during the Korean War. 

Preceded in death by his parents John A. and May Mestepey, brother John B. Mestepey.

He is survived by his wife Ruby Elise Robichaux Mestepey, sons, Todd Mestepey and wife Jodi, Ryan Mestepey, daughters Susanne Mestepey Fuchs and husband David, Marie Mestepey Poirier and husband Charles, Julie Mestepey Morin and husband Mike, nine grandchildren, Ashley Mestepey, Matthew Mestepey, Chloe, Melanie, and Aaron Fuchs, Claire and Henri Poirier, Emerson and Landon Morin.

Pallbearers to honor Mr. Mestepey will be Todd Mestepey, Ryan Mestepey, Matthew Mestepey, Charles Poirer, Mike Morin, David Fuchs, Woody Dorman; Honorary Pallbearers will be Paul Graffagnino, Patrick Johnson, Alex Dorman, and Darrel Flanigan.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to MD Anderson in honor of his memory.
