James William "Jim" Raposa, age 71 of Orange, Texas, passed away Monday, August 16, 2021, at his residence.
He was born August 18, 1949, in Fall River, Massachusetts, to James William and Rhea LaFleur Raposa.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Raposa of Orange; daughter, Ashley Raposa Schanlaub and husband Kenny; son, Justin Orr and wife Nicole; daughter, Stephanie Archer and wife Josie; grandchildren, Jay William "J.W." Brown, Olivia Brown, Meredith Schanlaub, Malachi Orr, Makayla Orr, and Betty Archer; sister, Sandra Ehrenberg; father-in-law, William H. Smith; mother-in-law, Lenalyn Huffman; sister-in-law, Leah Fontenot and her husband Milton; brother-in-law, Michael Smith and wife Monica; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many, many friends.
He loved to laugh, sing out loud to classic rock and was always (sometimes) painfully honest with a personality that you either loved or hated because there was never any middle ground with Jim. He loved with his whole heart and if you were in his inner circle, you knew you were loved.
In 2015, he retired as a salesman in the oil field which was a job suited for him because he was gifted with the gift of gab to go with his huge personality.
He loved to cook and would destroy any clean kitchen for a one pot meal which was always delicious. He loved to travel, loved camping and fishing, NASCAR, the Patriots and just getting in the car in the morning for an impromptu road trip. He lived life to the fullest with his motto, "It's easier to ask forgiveness than permission."
He will be missed so very much.
A memorial service is pending and will be conducted at a later time.
Services are under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home.
