Julie Dugas Obituary

Julie Anna Malone Dugas, age 61, of Orange, Texas, crossed to her heavenly home on Saturday, August 28, 2021. Graveside Services, under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 3, 2021, at Ida Wilson Cemetery in Orange, Texas, with Rev. Gary McCormick officiating services.

Julie was born in Orange, Texas, on Sunday, September 6, 1959, to Cynthia Antionette (Hill) and James Vernon Malone. She graduated from Little Cypress – Mauriceville High School and worked as a pharmacy technician for about 15 years.  A lifetime resident of Orange, Texas, Julie was known and loved by many. She met the love of her life when she came to know the late Jimmie Dugas. The couple shared 20 years of blissful marriage and made a lifetime of memories. Julie had a quick wit about her and always had a smile on her face. She loved her family unconditionally, and they felt the exact same way about her. She was a devoted New Orleans Saints football fan who enjoyed and encouraged “friendly” competition with other people and their teams. Julie preferred that Christmas be celebrated year-round and that everyone just agree with her on the matter, as she believed that it was the “most wonderful time of the year.” She finally got to take a flight for the first time in her life in a personal airplane, piloted by her nephew, only a few weeks before she passed from this life, and she absolutely loved it. Julie was a loving wife, daughter, stepmother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend who will forever be loved and missed by all who knew her.

Julie is preceded in death by her loving husband of 20 years, Jimmie Dugas, as well as her father, James Vernon Malone and brother-in-law, Stan Armstrong.

Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, Cynthia Malone Tuter; stepson, Jeffery Dugas and wife Debbie; stepdaughter, Kelly Goodwin and husband Scott; brother, Huey Malone and wife Jill; sisters, Ruth Irons and husband Mike, Molly Malone and Trudy Malone; sister-in-law, Linda Dugas Joiner; nieces, April Booker and husband Alvin, Kelley DiGiacomo and husband Anthony, and Katy Dempsey; nephews, Colin Irons and wife Charlotte, Kasey Irons and wife Jessica, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great nieces and nephews as well as a host of family and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Johnny Sonnier, Thomas Sonnier, Alvin Booker, Jerry Griggs, Austin Jolley, and Tyler Ridgaway.
