Mr. Lanny Ross Russo, age 77, of Deweyville, Texas, passed away Friday, December 10, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas.
Lanny was born October 24, 1944, in Rayne, Louisiana, to parents Johnny and Nola (Gaspard) Russo. Lanny spent his early growing up years in the Rayne area. He and his family moved to the Orange, Texas, area in 1959 after the death of his father. He went on to graduate from Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School.
He worked with a cement plant before retiring but he had a great love for things outdoors and farming related. Lanny always enjoyed tinkering around and working with his tractor and equipment. One of his greatest joys in life was spending time and playing with his grandchildren. He was a good neighbor and was always ready to help family and friends in any way, whether it was in good deeds or loaning equipment or tools, etc.
His survivors include his son, Matthew Tompkins and wife Carla Jo of Deweyville, Texas; grandchildren, Michael Forker, Keadon Tompkins, Priscilla Tompkins, and Raylon Tompkins; and his twin brother, Danny Russo and wife Brenda of Lufkin, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Nola Russo; and a brother, Johnny Russo Jr.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, December 17, 2021, at the Dorman Funeral Home chapel in Orange, Texas. The family will be greeting visitors from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Friday at the chapel.
