Lorita Cooper Obituary

Lorita Leger Block Cooper, age 92 of Orange, Texas, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at her home. A Mass to celebrate Lorita’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Joseph P Daleo officiating. Interment will immediately follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Family in friends will gather for a visitation from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Dorman Funeral Home.

Lorita was born on August 7, 1927 in Orange, Texas to Eunice Badeaux Leger and Pete Leger. She had been a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Lorita loved fishing and camping with her friend and companion James Marshall. She also loved traveling, fish fries and cooking for her family and friends as well as spending time with her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her sons, Vaughan Block and Bryan Block, her great granddaughter Clarissa Caswell, her sister Tina Faul, long time friend and companion James Marshall and half brothers; Beaux, Bee, Butch and Teenot Leger.

Left to cherish her memory are her granddaughters Lorita Block Caswell and her husband Randy of Deweyville, TX and Tammie Purcell of Orange, TX, grandsons Steven Block and his wife Sonja of Bridge City, TX, Billy Waters of Carlyss, LA and Mark Boyett of Port Arthur, TX, daughter-in-law Anita Block of Orange, TX and half sister Clara Leger Barrett, great grandchildren; Candace Miller of Starks, LA, Jessica Boynton of Bridge City, TX, Tiffany Eddins of Ragley, LA, Colby Caswell of Deweyville, TX, Steven Block, Jr. of Texarkana, TX, Katti Sonier of Bridge City, TX, Cherish Ingalls of Deweyville, TC, Alexis Boyett of Beaumont, TX, Chloe Caswell of Deweyville, TC Destiny Block of Bridge City, TX, Kylee Block of Bride City, TX, Crysta Caswell of Deweyville, TX and 14 great great grandchildren.

Special thanks, goes out to Anna Thibodeaux, Miss Cooper’s caregiver and friend for 10 plus years, Cheryl Pinder, who came and stayed with Miss Cooper anytime she was called upon and also to Juanita Patten, Leslie Willis and Sandra Fisher of Altus Hospice for all of their care and support.

Pallbearers honoring Lorita will be Colby Caswell, Nathan Ingalls, Carey Brady, Justin Boynton, Bentley Eddins, Mark Boyett and Jessie Sonier.
