Marc Anthony Francis

Marc Anthony Francis, age 57 of Orange, Texas, passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2022 in Houston, Texas. Family and friends will gather for a visitation from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Dorman Funeral Home. A private graveside will follow on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Trout Creek Cemetery with Pastor Brad McKenzie officiating.

Marc was born in Port Arthur, Texas on April 15, 1964 to parents, Helen Willie Mae Puckett Francis and Frank Eugene Francis. He had been a lifelong resident of Orange, Texas and proudly served his country in the United States Army. For many years before Marc completely lost his sight at the age of 38, he was a machinist and worked at Equitable Bag. He was a member of the SFOA and officiated for many football games in the area. Marc had an adventurous side that led him to many amusement parks across the country with big roller coasters and other fun rides. He also enjoyed attending “rock and roll” concerts to listen to some of the greats, including Van Halen.

Life was hard for Marc sometimes with the loss of his sight, but it didn’t stop him. He took everything that was thrown his way and figured out how to move on and adapt. Marc never sugar coated anything and always believed in the truth, no matter how difficult it was at times. Not everyone can take a hit and keep moving forward, but Marc managed. Marc earned his Bachelor’s of Arts and Applied Science Degree from Lamar University in 2015. He was also a member of Blind Veterans Association of SETX. Marc will be remembered for his ability to quote movies, his smile and his perseverance.

Marc leaves behind his wife, Lisa Michele Francis of Orange, TX, daughter Jilliann Bland and her husband Jason of Little Cyrpess, brother Jesse Cole and his wife Yanette of WI, two grandsons, Elliott Bland and Nathan Bland and many wonderful friends.
