Marvin Garrett, age 78, of Sulphur, Louisiana passed from this life on Tuesday, March 30, 2021. Funeral services, under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home, will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 3, 2021, at Dorman Funeral Home in Orange, Texas, with Pastor Jeanne Gunter officiating services. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, April 2, 2021, at Dorman Funeral Home. Interment will follow services at, Autumn Oaks Memorial Park in Orange, Texas.
Marvin was born in Lufkin, Texas on Friday, April 10, 1942, to parents Allie (Fair) and Malcom Watson Garrett. He was a longtime resident of Orange, Texas where he was known and loved by many. He came to know the love of his life when he met, Rita Evelyn (Stains). The couple married on July 23, 1999. They shared 22 years of blissful marriage and made a lifetime of memories. Marvin was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish, hunt, go shrimping and work in his garden any chance that life allowed. Marvin was a loving husband, stepfather, son, brother, grandpa and wonderful friend, who will forever be loved and missed by all who knew him.
Marvin is preceded in death by his parents, Malcom and Allie Garrett; brother, M.A. Garrett and Wayne Garrett, as well as, his sister, Shirley Garrett Warren.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 22 years, Rita Garrett; step sons, Charles Johnson and wife, Rebecca, Carlton Johnson, Jr., as well as, Mark Johnson and wife Jackie; brother, King David Garrett; sisters, Louise Risinger and husband Basil; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
