Oscar “Ricky Lynn” Buxton, age 72 of Starks, Louisiana, passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 28, 2022. A memorial service to honor his life will be held at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at Dorman Funeral Home with Rev. Jeremy Shields officiating. Family and friends will gather for a visitation from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at Dorman Funeral Home.

Ricky was born into a large family on April 10, 1950 in Dequincy, Louisiana to parents Polly Marie Howard Buxton and Ennis Buxton. Ricky found his calling in life when he was just 14 years old. He started working on tug boats and became a captain. He retired from Kirby Inlet Marine due to health reasons after 51 years of being a dedicated captain. Ricky married his soul mate, LaQuita “Keet” Flanigan on July 16, 1971 and raised three beautiful children together.

Ricky was a very hard working man and believed in taking care of his family. That was a trait he passed down to his children.  He owned “Father & Son Firewood” with his son, Justin.  The two spent countless hours working together. Ricky believed in his family and loved them all very much. He enjoyed playing dominos, the outdoors and going hunting and fishing. Ricky had a passion for gardening and grew some of the most beautiful gardens. Ricky loved people and people loved him. He will be greatly missed by all that knew his kindness, determination and dedication for the things he loved.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ennis and Polly Buxton, grandson Da-Jire Buxton, brothers, Ennis Rayfield Buxton and Barney DeWayne Buxton and sisters, Jeanette Sanders and Fannie Mae Rainwater.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife loving of over 50 years, LaQuita “Keet” Buxton of Starks, LA, son Justin Ennis Buxton, Sr. (Lynette Williams) of Starks, LA, two daughters, Holli Buxton Bevelhymer (Ernie) of Starks, LA and Lyndsey Buxton of Starks, LA, three brothers; William Edmond Buxton (Joanne) of Starks, LA, Robin Keith Buxton (Mi) of Seminole, OK and Dennis Buxton (Crystal) of Seminole, OK, four grandchildren; Kaiden Buxton, Jaceion Buxton, Justin Buxton, Jr. and Legend Buxton, numerous nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends.
